Want a Real Good Time?

Then mark your calendars, he's coming back: Real Time with Bill Maher has been on hiatus for months, but his show will return to HBO on August 19th. Here's a few reasons why it's important.

1. Real Time With Bill Maher is one of the very few places where right and left and center collide in true, uncensored glory. CNN, Fox, MSNBC present many of the same people but their presentation is antiseptic and very talking-point oriented. Bill Maher doesn't let 'em get away with that crap on his show. He calls 'em on it, and they either end up looking foolish (Senator Norm Coleman's appearance comes to mind), or they step up to the plate and begin making actual sense.

2. If you're one of the many who would like to watch, but get hung up because you don't know how to pronounce his name, this should put an end to it: Think of marr...or starr (like...say...Kenneth).

3. Don't have HBO? Yeah, that's a problem. Talk to your friends and see if they have HBO...and if they'd like a 10pm Friday night guest! Offering to bring desserts is a good start!

4. Real Time is a great way to end a workweek. After all the stress of your job, it's a great release, full of humor and great debate.

Just as I recommend listening to Air America or KRPT in San Antonio, I recommend Real Time With Bill Maher. It's television that engages your brain and involuntarily causes you to think. And that's always a move in the right direction.
