The NY Times Traitor Talk Truly Just a Tumultuous Tempest in a Teapot

If the explosive reaction to Friday's NY Times article talking about the tracing of terrorist money has made you squeamish...if you're wondering "did they cross the line?"...if the screeching right wing quasi-pundits have given your common sense a run for its money, go to Crooks and Liars. The 2nd story down is called Keith Strikes Back Against NYTimes Bashers and it contains lots of facts that we'd be best advised to remember.

An overview of those facts? Olbermann reveals that our tax dollars pay for a web site and a magazine which detail this administration's efforts to track down terrorists through their finances. Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Transactions--SWIFT for short. Swift's efforts: to track down terrorists through their money transactions.

Then Olbermann shows a half-dozen soundbites by GW Bush himself wherein he proudly claims with Texas bravado that he's tracking down the terrorists through how they use their money.

So if Americans should be outraged at the Times, maybe they should first be outraged at the Bush administration for detailing their TOP SECRET (snicker-snicker) program. This is yet another example of these folks SWIFT-boating an opponent through disinformation and mock outrage.
