The Trillion Dollar War

Remember back in '03 when we were told that the war wouldn't cost much? Office of Management and Budget Director Mitch Daniels put the figure at $60 billion. When the president's chief economic adviser Lindsey said the war would cost $100 to $200 billion, he was fired.
Now, Nobel laureate in economics Joseph Stiglitz and Linda Bilmes of the Kennedy School of Government have released a study estimating the 'true cost' of the war at possibly more than $2 trillion.
Several things factor into the cost: lifetime disability payments to veterans, especially the thousands who have suffered very serious injuries, military equipment, munitions and recruitment costs. Add to these costs the interest on the money borrowed to finance the war, oil prices and lives lost, both American and Iraqi.
Bush has done irreparable harm to the citizens of this country and seems to be determined to do more.
