Stop Messing With My Constitution!

With all the past and present troubles in Iraq, with the so-called great economy beginning to dip, what is our president doing? Ignoring the all the problems we're facing and promoting a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. This is an obvious attempt to placate his religious right backers. The proposal isn't expected to pass, but I worry about the future of the constitution with this 'profoundly mediocre'* man in charge.
