Rice tickles the ivories while the Mid East burns

Rice has Mideast on her mind at Asian summit - Yahoo! News: "KUALA LUMPUR (AFP) - US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice took a day off from her bid to untangle the Middle East crisis, but fallout from the fighting trailed her to an East Asia security summit.

Rice flew all night from Europe to Malaysia to join the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Regional Forum (ARF), after a crisis conference in Rome and visits to Beirut and Jerusalem.
But amid signs she could be preparing a return trip to the Middle East, she found new foreign policy problems, including opposition to Israel's Lebanon offensive and North Korea's intransigence on nuclear talks.
A senior State Department official said she would leave Malaysia on Friday, a day earlier than first thought -- but Rice refused to reveal her destination.
'I have not yet made a determination about my further travel,' Rice said.
'I am willing and ready to go back to the Middle East at any time,' she said at a press conference with Southeast Asian ministers and dialogue partners.
Earlier, when asked whether a new Middle East shuttle was being planned, Rice told reporters on her plane: 'Stay tuned.'"

Well said "love me!" You've got one helluva way with words. The nauanced logic that you laid out with such aplomb was downright incisive. I'm glad you're representing your views with such verve.

This is the stock-n-trade of the right wing these days. "Liberals are such whiners! Stop being so pessimistic!"

Clue: The attempt to let people know how bad things have gotten should not be perceived as whining. This is called looking at things the way they are, then writing about it. Were we canaries and in a coal mine, we'd long since been dead.

As long as we're making analogies, the hiding one's head in the sand one is quite appropriate here to describe folks like you who seem to think that despite all that's going on, things are going as planned. If this is a plan, try to imagine disorder.

Other than a few items that the Bush administration has not quite been able to screw up yet, their 6 years in office has been a series of screw ups followed by missed opportunities, leading to many disturbing of wasps nests, followed by taking turns 180 degrees from the right way, and capped off by a whopping series droppings of the ball.

These folks can't find their asses with both hands, and you embarrass yourself by appearing here trying to claim all is well. By what measure? Are you going to claim that Democracy is flourishing in the middle east?

You can post all the GOP-approved words and phrases that make you folks feel good to utter them, but six years into this neo-con experience, they ring hollow, as well as untrue.
