Are You Honoring Earth Day?

Last night during Bill Maher's show on HBO, in his New Rules segment, he reminded us all that Sunday is Earth Day. He quoted some enviromental wacko named Albert Einstein:

"if the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe, then man would have only four years of life left. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man."

Then Bill went on to mention the curious crisis that I've barely heard of in the mainstream media: the fact that bees have been disappearing from their hives recently. No one knows why, and no one yet has a fix for this problem.

I'm not saying we're mere years from extinction. But I am saying this is something for us all to be concerned with, ask about, and to talk to others about. In much the same way that An Inconvenient Truth got people to seriously consider global warming, perhaps we should think more about this problem as well. This site contains the text of Mahr's statement, and this site has an overview of the problem.
