You Think Karl Rove Works for You?

Think again. More about that in a moment...first, the backstory: Laurie David (at right) is the producer of the film An Incovenient Truth. That's the Global Warming movie centered around Al Gore's elaborate power point presentation. Ms. David has been on a two-week Stop Global Warming tour throughout the midwest and south with rocker Sheryl Crow (on the left) to increase awareness of Global Warming, and encourage Americans to think they can do something to fight it.

The culmination of the tour was the correspondent's dinner in Washington DC. At that dinner, Ms. David and Ms. Crow approached Karl Rove and tried to engage him in conversation about Global Warming. Accoreding to David and Crow, Rove immediately became combative and clearly didn't want to talk. The bizarre interchange ended like this:

(Crow) "You can't speak to us like that, you work for us." Karl then quipped, "I don't work for you, I work for the American people." To which Sheryl promptly reminded him, "We are the American people."

This administration is waaaay behind the curve on Global Warming, and Rove's attitude is one of the reasons why. The American people believe Global Warming is real and that everything we can reasonably be done about it should be done. But our so-called leaders aren't leading. I think they need to be reminded who it is they're working for!
